    • Series 10 and Series 11 straps are interchangeable.

    Our recommendation

For your watch, we recommend Alvéole, Ampère, Rubis and Titan Mesh first. Each strap below is checked for compatibility with your watch: check the model and case size (in mm) before ordering.

    1. Series 10 sizes

Direct answerThe Apple Watch Series 10 (42 mm and 46 mm) is compatible with all 42/44/45/49 mm Apple Watch straps: Apple's universal connector guarantees backward compatibility with straps from previous generations.

Apple released the Series 10 in 2024 in two case sizes: 42 mm and 46 mm. That is a change from previous generations, which came in 41 and 45 mm.

    Expert answer

The Apple Watch Series 10 is only 9.7 mm thick, which has a subtle effect on straps: thick deployant clasps can create a slight visual asymmetry under the case. For this model, straps with a thin tang buckle (< 4 mm thick) or woven nylon straps give the look most consistent with the thin case. It is an aesthetic detail that generic guides ignore.

    Marc Lefèvre: connected-accessories specialist

What matters for a strap is not the case size. It is the lug width, the part that slides into the watch's slot. Apple groups its watches into two families.

    1. Series 10 sizes
Series 10 case Family Lug width
42 mm Small cases 20 mm
46 mm Large cases 22 mm

Remember this above all: all watches in the same family share their straps, whatever the generation.

    2. The 42 mm trap

This is the point that costs a lot of people time and money. The number 42 mm exists in both Apple families.

The Series 3, released in 2017, came in 38 and 42 mm. On that generation, the 42 mm was the large model, with a 22 mm lug.

The Series 10 comes in 42 and 46 mm. Here, the 42 mm is the small model, with a 20 mm lug.

    The rule to remember

Two watches can both say 42 mm and not accept the same strap. On the Series 3, the 42 mm is a large case. On the Series 10 and 11, the 42 mm is a small case.

The consequence is simple. If you take the straps from an old 42 mm Series 3 and try them on your 42 mm Series 10, they will not fit. They are 2 mm too wide.

The reverse is also true. A 42 mm Series 10 strap will be too narrow on a 42 mm Series 3.

    3. Will your old straps fit your Series 10?

Here is the table that answers it directly. Find your previous watch in the first column.

    3. Will your old straps fit your Series 10?
Your previous watch Size Lug Series 10 42 mm Series 10 46 mm
Series 3 38 mm 20 mm Yes No
Series 3 42 mm 22 mm No Yes
    Series 4, 5, 6 and SE 40 mm 20 mm Yes No
    Series 4, 5, 6 and SE 44 mm 22 mm No Yes
    Series 7, 8 and 9 41 mm 20 mm Yes No
    Series 7, 8 and 9 45 mm 22 mm No Yes
Series 11 42 mm 20 mm Yes No
Series 11 46 mm 22 mm No Yes
Ultra, Ultra 2 and Ultra 3 49 mm 22 mm No Yes
    Good news

If your old strap shows Yes in the column for your size, keep it. It fits without an adapter and without tinkering. You have nothing to buy again.

One case comes up often. You move from a 41 mm Series 7 to a 42 mm Series 10 and think you have to replace everything. You don't: both are in the small-case family.

    4. Choosing a material for how you use it

Once the size is settled, the real choice remains. Here are four usage profiles and the strap that goes with each, all in stock and compatible with the Series 10.

    Sport and sweat

Silicone is the simplest to live with. It rinses under water, dries fast and does not hold odours. The magnetic clasp avoids the buckle hole that marks the skin.

Marina | Bracelet silicone aimanté marin pour Apple Watch Series 10 - Clipz-it

    Marina

Compatible with Series 10 in 42 mm and 46 mm

Soft silicone with a magnetic clasp, built for water and effort. It rinses in a few seconds and dries quickly.

    Versatile everyday wear

Braided nylon is light and breathable. You can wear it from morning to evening without marking your wrist. It is the most comfortable compromise if you keep your watch on all day.

Cirrus | Bracelet nylon tressé pour Apple Watch Series 10 - Clipz-it

    Cirrus

Compatible with Series 10 in 42 mm and 46 mm

Soft, breathable braided nylon, comfortable for continuous wear. It adjusts finely and stays discreet under a sleeve.

    Office and evenings out

For a dressier look, the choice is between stainless steel and leather. Stainless steel gives the look of a classic watch. Magnetic leather is softer and adjusts to the millimetre.

Céleste | Bracelet acier inoxydable pour Apple Watch Series 10 - Clipz-it

    Céleste

Compatible with Series 10 in 42 mm and 46 mm

Polished stainless steel, carefully finished for a dressy look. It turns the watch into part of your outfit.

Rubis | Bracelet cuir aimanté pour Apple Watch Series 10 - Clipz-it

    Rubis

Compatible with Series 10 in 42 mm and 46 mm

Leather with a magnetic clasp and no visible buckle. Adjustment is to the millimetre, with no buckle hole.

    Lightweight, nickel-free metal

Titanium is a useful option if stainless steel is a problem for you. It contains no nickel and weighs noticeably less than a standard stainless steel link strap.

Titan Mesh | Bracelet milanais titane pour Apple Watch Series 10 - Clipz-it

    Titan Mesh

Compatible with Series 10 in 46 mm only

Titanium milanese mesh, light and nickel-free. The magnetic clasp adjusts continuously along the full length.

    5. Choosing the right size for your wrist

Case size tells you nothing about strap length. Two people with the same Series 10 can need different lengths.

Measure your wrist with a tape measure, at the spot where you wear your watch. Note the figure in centimetres.

    • 14 to 17 cm: favour slim straps and magnetic clasps, which are easier to adjust.
    • 17 to 20 cm: most models fit, including link straps.
    • Over 20 cm: check the maximum length stated before ordering.

On link straps, the length is adjusted by removing links. This is a common job, done in a shop or with a small dedicated tool.

    Frequently asked questions

    Will a 41 mm Series 7 strap fit a 42 mm Series 10?
Yes. The 41 mm of the Series 7, 8 and 9 and the 42 mm of the Series 10 and 11 belong to the same family, the small cases. The lug is 20 mm in both cases. You can keep your current strap. This is a frequently asked question on r/AppleWatch, where one user explains that Apple told them their strap probably would not fit.
    Will a 42 mm Series 3 strap fit a 42 mm Series 10?
No, and this is the main trap. The Series 3 42 mm belongs to the large-case family, with a 22 mm lug. The Series 10 42 mm belongs to the small-case family, with a 20 mm lug. Two watches marked 42 mm, two different lugs. This question comes up regularly on r/AppleWatch, in both directions.
Are Series 10 and Series 11 straps interchangeable?
Yes. Both models come in 42 and 46 mm, with the same lug widths. A strap bought for a Series 10 fits a Series 11, and the other way round. This is also a frequently asked question on r/AppleWatch whenever a new generation arrives.
How do you change the strap on your Series 10?
You press the release button on the back of the case, then slide the strap out sideways. The new one slides into the same slot until it clicks. The step-by-step detail is in our dedicated tutorial.
Which strap should you choose if you have a nickel allergy?
Look at silicone, nylon or titanium. These materials contain no nickel. Stainless steel straps contain a small amount, which is enough to trigger a reaction in sensitive people. This is a point raised by users on r/AppleWatch.
