Why Clipz-it exists

There is something absurd about the smartwatch accessory market. You just spent several hundred pounds on a watch that goes everywhere with you: tracking your training, your sleep, your mileage. Then when it is time to replace the strap, you have two options: either buy the original version at a price that would embarrass a jeweller, or venture into the aftermarket and end up with a strap that claims to be "universal" before you realise it does not fit your model's lugs.

Clipz-it was created from this exact issue. Not from a theoretical business plan, nor a market study conducted from a desk. From real customer frustration with an unstructured market, where compatibility is promised to everyone but verified by no one.

First-party straps for Apple Watch, Garmin, or Samsung Galaxy Watch cost between £45 and £90 for a basic accessory. This is intentional: the manufacturer knows you own their watch and that you have few alternatives. The strap becomes a profit centre, not a service to the user.

On the other side, imported alternatives sold on large marketplaces focus on volume and vague claims: "Compatible with all 20mm watches", never specifying whether it works with your exact series, case size, or connector generation. The result: one strap received, one strap returned, and lost trust.

We knew there was room between these two extremes. Room for a brand that treats the strap for what it actually is: an everyday accessory that deserves to be well-engineered, accurately catalogued, and fairly priced.

That is what we built with Clipz-it. A catalogue organised by watch model, not generic material categories or broad price brackets, but by watch. Whether you come with your Apple Watch Ultra 49mm, your Garmin Fenix 7 Pro, or your Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic 47mm: you are guided directly to straps engineered to fit it.

The rest (finishes, materials, pricing) is our curation work. You simply select what matches your routine.

A strap is the one thing you wear every single day.
It might as well be done properly.

Compatibility is not optional, it is the foundation

The vast majority of issues with replacement straps stem from a single component: the connector. Apple Watch uses a proprietary slide-in system that evolved across generations. Garmin uses standard spring bars or QuickFit lugs (20 mm, 22 mm, or 26 mm depending on the model), though some recent variants have distinct case requirements. Samsung Galaxy Watch alternated between proprietary connectors and standard spring bars over just a few generations.

The result in an uncurated market is predictable: buyers ordering a 22 mm strap without knowing that their Fenix 7X requires a QuickFit 26 mm fitting, not 22 mm like a Vivoactive 4. Incompatibility is not a manufacturing fault: it is an information failure.

At Clipz-it, we took the opposite approach. Every strap in the catalogue is listed by exact watch model. Not by a generic width, not by "watch family", but by specific reference: Apple Watch Series 9 45mm, Garmin Forerunner 965, Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 44mm. If your model is listed: it fits. If it is not: we do not sell it to you.

01

By exact model, not generic categories

Our catalogue is structured around each watch, not an abstract width or connector. Apple Watch Ultra, Garmin Fenix 8, Samsung Galaxy Watch 7: you browse by what you wear. Compatibility is verified before a product enters our catalogue, not after you receive it.

02

Materials built to last

Breathable sport silicone, genuine leather, woven nylon, brushed stainless steel, magnetic buckle silicone. Every material is selected for durability and long-term wearing comfort. No cheap plastic disguised as silicone, no "leather" that peels away after three months.

03

Organised by actual use

Sport, Formal, Casual, Outdoor. We also organise our catalogue by use case, because the strap you wear on a trail run is not the one you wear in a client meeting. A nylon strap for daily wear, a leather strap for work, a silicone strap for training: navigation follows your life, not warehouse stock.

04

A strict selection, not open aggregation

We do not list everything available. Every reference passes internal testing: clasp finish, lug connection strength, sweat resistance, and accuracy of stated versus actual sizing. Any product failing these criteria is rejected, regardless of wholesale cost.

A European brand with customers worldwide

Clipz-it operates from Europe and delivers internationally. Prices are displayed in each market's local currency, and our support team answers inquiries directly, whether you are in London, Dublin, Sydney, or Toronto.

Too many online shops run unverified catalogues, convert currencies unexpectedly at checkout, or outsource support to agents who have never seen the hardware. At Clipz-it, warranties are clearly explained, and return conditions apply consistently regardless of your location.

Whether you are looking for an Apple Watch strap in the UK, a Garmin strap in Ireland, a Samsung Galaxy Watch strap in Europe, or a smartwatch strap in Canada or Australia: you have access to the same catalogue, the same warranties, and the same quality standards. Only the shipping address changes. Our standards do not.

Choosing a replacement strap: key technical facts

A common question arises: why is finding a compatible replacement strap frequently complicated? The answer comes down to several factors we have identified while managing our catalogue.

Connector designs differ across generations. Apple refined its slide-in lugs between early models and current series. Straps for Series 1 to 9 largely share sizing categories, but Ultra models have specific proportions tailored to their 49mm case. Garmin uses standardised widths, yet models like the Fenix 8 Solar or Instinct 2X require specific lug types. Samsung shifted systems across generations: Galaxy Watch 4 and 5 use standard 20 mm quick-release fittings, matching Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic. The rotating bezel on Classic variants does not change lug connection geometry.

Lug width alone is not enough. Two "22 mm" straps may not be interchangeable across different watch manufacturers. The width indicates the lug gap, but pin diameter, lug depth, and locking geometry differ. This is why "compatible 22 mm" without naming your exact watch model leaves room for fitment issues.

Materials have expected lifespans. Silicone exposed daily to sweat, UV rays, and abrasion naturally degrades over time. Untreated leather will stiffen or stain when exposed to moisture. Low-grade nylon can cause skin friction or fray quickly. Investing in well-constructed materials directly protects the daily durability of your strap.

This technical data shapes our entire catalogue. Every Clipz-it reference meets these standards: verified connector geometry, selected materials, and explicitly listed compatible models. An Apple Watch Series 10 strap sold with verified specifications is far more reliable than a generic "universal" band sold with none.

Process

How we select each strap

Every reference in our catalogue passes four steps before being listed for sale.

  1. Mechanical fit verification: the strap is mounted on the exact watch model (Apple Watch, Garmin, Samsung) to confirm secure lock-in and zero mechanical play.
  2. Material assessment: sweat exposure testing (0.9% NaCl solution), UV colourfastness testing (72-hour exposure), and clasp durability after 500 open/close cycles.
  3. 7-day comfort evaluation: daily real-world wear (desk work, workouts, sleep) to check for friction, skin marks, slipping, or residual odour.
  4. Editorial listing decision: only models meeting all three preceding criteria are added to the catalogue. Rejected samples are discarded.

This vetting process has led us to reject approximately one third of initial product candidates since 2019.

Compatibility is tested by us on each listed model, using the appropriate connector standards (Apple lug release, Garmin QuickFit, or Samsung standard pin mechanisms).

How do I find the right strap for my smartwatch?

Two specifications determine fit: your exact watch model (e.g. Apple Watch Series 10 46 mm, Garmin Fenix 8 47 mm) and lug width in millimetres. On clipz-it.com, each product page lists compatible models. If you are unsure, use the model filter tool to show straps verified for your specific case.
